Music and Choir

Music, combined with the practice of singing in a choir, forms an enriching experience for the emotional, cognitive and social development of students. At Fredericton Christian Academy (FCA), these activities are offered as part of the curriculum, as they strengthen concentration, promote artistic sensitivity and encourage collective work.

What are Music and Choir?

Why music and choir are important?

There are several benefits to participating in musical activities. Because of the melodic structure and rhythm, music stimulates the brain, improves memory and expands active listening skills. Furthermore, singing in a group promotes discipline, respect for others and the construction of interpersonal bonds. In short, these experiences expand personal expression and reinforce important values for coexistence.

How they work at the FCA?

Students participate in practical and theoretical classes, in which they learn musical fundamentals, vocal techniques and notions of harmony. Choir rehearsals are moments of integration, as students come together in performances that mark internal and external school events. The repertoire varies depending on the age and musical level of the class, which makes each performance unique and meaningful.

In addition, teachers closely monitor individual progress, encouraging each student to overcome their own limits. Students often discover talents that they had not explored before, and this strengthens their self-confidence in other academic areas.

How to participate?

All students can join the music and choir program, regardless of previous experience. FCA promotes a welcoming and inclusive environment, as it believes that each student has artistic potential to be developed. Registration takes place at the beginning of each semester and, during the year, new projects are organized.

Keep an eye on updates

The rehearsal and performance schedule may undergo adjustments throughout the academic year. Therefore, it is essential to follow the official FCA newsletters. If you have any questions, those responsible can contact the pedagogical team for detailed guidance.
