FCA Glossary
Basketball
Basketball is a team sport that promotes agility, strategy and teamwork. At Fredericton Christian Academy (FCA), this modality is part of extracurricular activities and contributes to the physical, social and emotional development of international students. Furthermore, the sporting environment encourages values such as discipline, respect and overcoming.
What is Basketball?
Why basketball is important?
There are several benefits related to playing basketball. Because of its intense dynamics, sport improves physical conditioning and encourages quick decision-making. In short, students learn to deal with victories and defeats in a balanced way, which positively impacts academic and personal performance.
In addition, basketball offers opportunities for multicultural interaction, as it brings together students from different backgrounds on the same team. This coexistence strengthens social ties and expands intercultural understanding.
Basketball in FCA programs
Basketball is present in programs such as the 5-month High School, the Mini High School and the full semester of High School. Students can join the FCA Eagles team, participate in regular training and play friendly matches with other schools in the region. There is also the possibility of training for leisure, with supervised sessions during the school term.
Because of this structure, all students have access to a safe, motivating and well-oriented environment to practice sport.
How to participate?
To participate, the student must be enrolled in one of FCA’s active programs. Coaches assess the skill level and integrate interested parties according to their preferences and availability. Additionally, training times are organized so as not to interfere with regular classes.
Parents can monitor sports performance through activity reports and records, ensuring greater peace of mind during the adaptation process.
Updates and notices
The sports schedule may vary depending on the semester and the number of interested students. Therefore, it is recommended to check the updated activity calendar before the start of the program. If you have any questions, our pedagogical team is available to guide each family.
