FCA Glossary
Athletics
Athletics brings together several sports, such as running, jumping and throwing. Considered one of the foundations of modern sport, it stimulates endurance, speed and motor coordination. At Fredericton Christian Academy (FCA), athletics is part of the activities that promote balance between physical development and academic performance.
What is Athletics?
Why athletics is important?
There are numerous benefits associated with practicing athletics. Because of the diversity of tests, students have the chance to discover their specific abilities, whether in speed, jumping or strength. Furthermore, sport teaches values such as discipline, personal overcoming and respect for others.
In short, it is a complete activity that improves physical health and also strengthens students’ self-confidence. It’s not just about competing, but about growing with each challenge overcome.
Athletics in FCA programs
Athletics is present in programs such as the 5-month High School, the Mini High School and the full semester of High School. Students participate in supervised training, focusing on technique, physical fitness and sportsmanship. Due to the favorable climate at certain times of the year, activities take place outdoors, which provides an even more enriching experience.
In addition, there are opportunities to participate in school and intercollegiate events, which strengthens integration between students and encourages teamwork.
How to participate in activities?
To participate in athletics activities, the student must be regularly enrolled in one of the programs offered by FCA. Teachers guide training according to the level and pace of each student. Therefore, even those who have never practiced before can adapt easily.
Those responsible are also informed about sporting performance through reports, which facilitates monitoring during the exchange.
