Placement Exams

Placement exams help identify each student’s prior knowledge, especially in areas such as English and mathematics. At Fredericton Christian Academy (FCA), this process ensures that students begin their programs in Canada in classes that match their level, making learning easier from the start.

What are Placement Exams?

How Placement Exams work?

In the first few days after arrival, students undergo assessments that measure skills such as reading, writing, listening and mathematical logic. Because of this data, the pedagogical team organizes classes in a balanced way and adjusts the content according to the students’ real needs.

In addition, exams can take place online or in person, depending on the program. The objective is to provide an accurate overview of each participant’s linguistic and academic skills.

Why Placement Exams are important?

There are many reasons to include these exams in educational programs. Firstly, they prevent the student from facing very easy or difficult content, which could generate frustration. In short, it is a tool that promotes a balance between challenge and motivation.

These exams also make teaching more personalized. Based on the results, teachers adapt activities and methodologies, valuing the learning pace of each class.

Relationship with FCA programs

All Fredericton Christian Academy programs utilize placement exams. At Summer Camp, for example, the results help direct students to more appropriate language activities. At Mini High School, exams reinforce the planning of interdisciplinary classes. In the 5-month High School program, they contribute to more precise monitoring, aligned with the Canadian curriculum.

Steps to take the exam

Before the trip, some information about the student’s level may be requested. At the beginning of the program, the FCA team organizes the placement exams and explains all the instructions in a clear and calm way. Soon after, the results serve as a basis for forming classes and pedagogical adjustments. At all times, teachers remain focused on the well-being and development of students.

Updates and recommendations

As the programs receive students from different profiles, the format of the exams can change frequently. Therefore, it is worth following the communications sent by the school and clarifying doubts directly via Official FCA WhatsApp or on Official FCA Portal.
