Orientation
Orientation is the initial moment of the international program, in which students receive essential information about the school, the city, routine and cultural aspects of Canada. This process facilitates adaptation and reduces insecurities, as it offers a clear vision of the academic and social environment. At Fredericton Christian Academy (FCA), this stage occurs within the first few days after arrival.
How Orientation works?
During Orientation, students participate in face-to-face activities with the teaching team, explore the campus and learn about the school’s main services. They also receive guidance on rules, calendar, transportation, food and emotional support. Furthermore, they are introduced to international colleagues, which encourages integration from the beginning. In short, the objective is to promote welcoming and organization.
Why Orientation matters?
There are several benefits. Orientation reduces culture shock, improves understanding of school norms and increases student confidence. Furthermore, it helps prevent conflicts and doubts in the first few days, as it provides clear answers about how the program works. Because of this, it is considered a fundamental step for the success of the international experience.
How the FCA organizes Orientation?
Fredericton Christian Academy plans every detail so that Orientation is effective. The program includes presentations with teachers, a tour of the facilities and explanations of the curriculum. Who is Orientation for?
All international students participating in FCA programs — such as Summer Camp, Mini High School, and 5-month High School — participate in Orientation. Even in short programs, this introduction makes a difference in student performance and adaptation. Therefore, attendance is mandatory.
