Education exchange in Canada: FCA to host an official program from the Government of Santander, Colombia
An education exchange in Canada can be one of the most enriching experiences a student can have. In 2025, Fredericton Christian Academy (FCA) will have the honour of hosting one of the largest international immersion initiatives promoted by the Government of Santander, Colombia, through the program “Es Tiempo de la Educación” (an education-focused public initiative).
FCA’s selection reflects the school’s recognition as a reference point for bilingual education and global learning. A group of 75 students and 25 teachers from Colombia’s public education system will spend 12 weeks in Fredericton, participating in academic and cultural activities with full English-language immersion.
Education exchange in Canada: real integration and authentic learning
During the education exchange in Canada, participants will have daily contact with English in a real, active context. They will integrate into FCA’s routine, attend regular classes, develop projects, and take part in activities with Canadian students. This day-to-day engagement is essential for building language fluency and independence. In addition, cultural exchange promotes empathy, respect, and a broader worldview.
The impact of an official exchange for educators
The program also focuses on ongoing professional learning for educators. Over the 12 weeks, Colombian teachers will explore Canadian teaching practices, participate in classroom observation sessions, workshops, and meetings with FCA’s teaching team. This strengthens professional skills and broadens educational perspectives.
